[Abstract = %22In 1950%2C using the Soviet GTO badge as a model%2C the SPO %28BSPO%29 sports badge was introduced in Poland. It was the basis of the contemporary physical culture system and a factor of promoting mass sport. The badge was divided into 4 degrees and the following age categories were established%3A the kid degree BSPO with the division into two categories%3A 1%29 girls and boys aged 11 to 12%2C and 2%29 aged 13 to 14%2C as well as the youth degree BSPO with one age category%3A 15%E2%80%9316. SPO included degrees 1 and 2 and two age categories%3A 1%29 17%E2%80%9335%2C 2%29 36 and above. The regulations of earning the badge were prepared%2C special committees were appointed%2C and the whole process was supervised by the Main Committee of Physical Culture %28G%C5%82%C3%B3wny Komitet Kultury Fizycznej %E2%80%93 GKKF%29. Political authorities attached a lot of importance to possessing that badge%2C and mass earning of the SPO badge was a priority for the contemporary sports authorities. Schools%2C universities%2C the army%2C People%E2%80%99s Sports Teams and sports associations were obliged to conduct tests for the required standards for the SPO badge. This paper tries to answer the following questions%3A What criteria had to be met to be awarded the SPO and BSPO badge%3F and%3A How many badges were achieved in sports associations in Rzesz%C3%B3w Voivodship in 1953%3F%22]
