The Polish Plebiscytariat was aware that there was a strong and well-organized sports movement in Upper Silesia and that it should play its role in the fight against Germany for disputed territory. Therefore%2C at the Commissariat%2C the Faculty of Physical Education was established%2C which published %E2%80%9CSportowiec%E2%80%9D. The first issue of %E2%80%9CSportowiec%E2%80%9D appeared on August 4%2C 1920. The editorial team%2C apart from publishing the magazine%2C also worked in the field. There were lectures on the rules of playing football%2C judging%2C Polish language were taught. The %E2%80%9CSportowiec%E2%80%9D was effectively crowding out German sports newspapers%2C both those published in Upper Silesia and reaching out from the Reich.%22]
