[Abstract = %22Henryk Roycewicz was not a well-known figure. His name would be difficult to find on the pages of textbooks for the history of Poland%2C he was also not included in the most popular encyclopedias. Who was he then%3F A Pole coming from a family with patriotic traditions%2C but born in times of persecution in the Russian partition. A soldier of the First World War%2C a cavalryman of the Second Republic%2C an athlete%2C an almost perfect rider%2C an Olympic medalist%2C a riding coach. Roycewicz was also a soldier of the September Campaign%2C then the Home Army%2C an activist of the underground%2C and finally a Warsaw insurgent %E2%80%93 commander of the %E2%80%9CKili%C5%84ski%E2%80%9D Battalion. For the last two %E2%80%9Coffenses%E2%80%9D he paid a high price %E2%80%93 accusations of treason%2C sentence and a six-year stay in the Stalinist prison. After his release and rehabilitation%2C he returned to horse riding and remained faithful to it almost until the end of his life. Although he died more than a quarter of a century ago%2C he still lives in the memories of the older generation of riders%2C and above all his comrades-in-arms%2C their families%2C war veterans%2C for whom he has become a legend during his lifetime. The aim of the article was to present an outstanding figure of a soldier-patriot%2C sportsman-Olympian%2C sports activist.%22]
