[Abstract = %22Introduction%3A A varied and well balanced diet is an important factor in maintaining health and optimization of the exercise capacity of athletes. The nutritional behaviors of players depend on various factors%2C including their sports level.Aim%3A Evaluation of nutritional behaviors of athletes playing volleyball%2C depending on the nature of practicing sports %28recreational vs. competitive%29.The material and methods%3A The research was carried out in a group of 200 volleyball players %28100 professionals and 100 amateurs%29 using the proprietary dietary behavior questionnaire. Statistical analyzes were performed using the Chi-square independence test from the PQStat ver. 1.6 package.Results%3A The volleyball players strictly implemented the recommendations regarding eating at least 3 meals a day %2895.5%25%29%2C including cereal products in each main meal %2883.0%25%29 and preferring mineral water for rehydration %2882.0%25%29. In the smallest percentage%2C volleyball players declared daily consumption of at least 2 servings of milk and%2For the dairy products %2836.5%25%29 plus 2%E2%80%933 servings of vegetables %2826.0%25%29%2C as well as limiting the consumption of animal fats %2826.5%25%29. Assessment of nutritional behaviors depending on the sports level showed that the competitive volleyball players in a significantly higher percentage declared regular meals %28p %3C 0.01%29 and the consumption of the most caloric meal after training %28p %3C 0.01%29. In addition%2C competitive athletes significantly more often properly rehydrated themselves during their training sessions %28p %3C 0.01%29%2C they included carbohydrate products in each meal %28p %3C 0.01%29 and limited the consumption of sugary and salty snacks %28p %3C 0.01%29%2C fast food products %28p %3C 0.01%29 and energy drinks %28p %3C 0.05%29. In fact%2C they also consumed 1%E2%80%932 portions of fruit %28p %3C 0.05%29 and 2%E2%80%933 portions of vegetables %28p %3C 0.01%29 and vegetable fats %28p %3C 0.01%29 more often every day. In turn%2C amateur volleyball players in a significantly higher percentage preferred mineral water and other unsweetened drinks for rehydration %28p %3C 0.01%29.Conclusions%3A The role of practicing sport %28competitive vs. amateur%29 has been demonstrated in relation to some of the nutritional behaviors of athletes practicing volleyball.%22]
